EasyCockpit is a comprehensive aviation navigation tool for mobile devices that has long been a valuable resource for pilots seeking to enhance their situational awareness while flying in Southern Africa. This GPS moving map software, featuring detailed information, significantly improves the safety of flights across this region of the African continent. The software includes a high-resolution vector map offering an extensive database of airfields complete with communication and navigation frequencies, runway details, fuel availability, cautionary notes, and sunrise/sunset times. Detailed airspace information, encompassing special VFR routings and reporting points around congested areas, solidifies the software's status as an essential tool for pilots operating in Southern Africa.

The program's extensive mapping data covers South Africa, Botswana, Lesotho, Malawi, Namibia, Swaziland, Angola, Mozambique, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. Users can engage in flight planning by selecting waypoints or abeam waypoints from the database or map and have the option to insert airspace intersections. Additionally, the software allows for the uploading of routes from EasyPlan and offers customizable layers that can be toggled on or off.

Key features include terrain display, FlightLog functionality providing crucial details such as distance to the next waypoint, ground speed, desired track, Estimated Time Enroute (ETE), Estimated Time of Arrival (ETA), and position relative to recognized VFR points for accurate reporting. The Direct-To function displays the ten nearest airfields and navaids or other points, while the Move-To button swiftly locates database points for detailed examination on the map.

Users can utilize the Horizontal Situation Indicator (HSI) needle to calculate distance off track and employ the Radio Magnetic Indicator (RMI) needles to set bearings toward one or two points. Furthermore, the software offers the option to display Distance Measuring Equipment (DME) arcs and Omni Bearing Indicators (OBIs) from any waypoint, navaid, or airfield.

Included within EasyCockpit is an E6B calculator that ensures quick and precise computations of density altitude, true airspeed, windspeed, and direction. The software also incorporates airspace, obstacle, and terrain warnings to enhance flight safety.

Pilots can choose between Track-Up or North-Up modes for navigation ease. However, it is important to note that continuous use of GPS in the background may significantly reduce battery life.
